Get up close to cute rainforest wallabies as they roam freely through the Zoo. The Rainforest Habitat Port Douglas

The Australian Butterfly Sanctuary is the largest butterfly flight aviary and exhibit in Australia - a quality wildlife experience right in the heart of Kuranda Village. This unique all-weather attraction is home to over 1500 magnificent local rainforest species of tropical butterflies, and are all hand reared on the premises. Complimentary Guided Tours take place regularly throughout the day where you can see the local electric blue Ulysses and the majestic green and yellow Cairns Birdwing butterflies.

A Behind The Scenes Laboratory Tour is included with the park entry. This provides an opportunity to view first hand the breeding laboratory, which houses up to 4,000 caterpillars, through special viewing window. To continuously stock the Butterfly Sanctuary, the laboratory staff collect and sterilise eggs and raise the caterpillars right through to the chrysalis stage.
